BESPOKE TREATMENT THERAPY

Providing clinical support for individuals whose life conditions are favourable has led me to have years of experience with bespoke therapy in different parts of the world. This style of therapy allows the client and the family to have more control over external aspects of the program. They are able to collaborate more in decisions about where the treatment takes place and what clinical team is used. It is a tailor-made approach which considers all parts of the client’s life, their preferences, and their fears.

This does not mean that treatment is easy. Facing oneself is often hard, but to do it in a caring and loving atmosphere makes the journey both sweeter and more effective. Judgement and degradation have no role in this approach. To bring someone’s spirit alive requires that they feel loved and understood. Therapeutic support can offer this while family and friends might have become exhausted, confused and judgmental.

Bespoke therapy typically requires an interdisciplinary team using input from a psychiatrist, a physician, a nutritionist, a fitness/yoga coach and counselling psychologist. The length and location of the treatment is decided as part of the collaborative treatment plan, created by the client, significant family member and the clinical team.

It is important to highlight here the difference between many residential units and the bespoke approach, as there are pros and cons to both approaches. Residential units generally offer group therapy as perhaps their strongest clinical intervention. It is indeed very powerful to see oneself reflected in the eyes of others and learn how to interact in a functional way.

Bespoke therapy does not necessarily use group therapy. Some clients have very valid and personal conditions which make group therapy less useful. People with a high public profile, deep social anxiety or a high need for confidentiality may choose not to become vulnerable in group. In these cases, it is paramount that the collaborative treatment plan maximizes the advantages of a bespoke approach.

In short, the bespoke approach means ‘one client at a time”.
